Ziinga

Ziinga is an entertainment shop site in the UK. Keep in mind that Penny Auctions are like any game played on the internet- you win some, you lose some. Stakes can run high especially if you've been like a fly circling around a live auctions for hours and hours on end. But before you start bidding on anything its good to be informed of the site's policies. Ziinga is a legally run business in the UK, if it wasn't then wouldn't the UK government just shut them down? But it is LEGIT.

So just some advice before you start your bidding wars. Check the site's policies, know what you need to pay for which is membership. Ziinga will charge you a month's membership after a trial run, so read up before you sign up and get carded. If you want out of Ziinga.com, there is a cancellation fee of almost £30. So if you think £30 is something you don't want to pay for, then don't sign up. The reality of any business is that transactions and services cost money. Besides having fun at Ziinga, keep in mind playing at entertainment shopping sites are often not free. You need pay for bids and tokens, for memberships among other things.

But right now, I just want to win a TV at Ziinga.com - well who doesn't a new LCD TV anyway?
I want to win some really cool stuff real bad! Like these people:

Makes me wonder what their bidding techniques are? I guess its mostly luck and a whole lotta money to throw around :)

LED TV vs. LCD TV

Disclaimer: What I’m about to talk about may be very technologically intensive.

LED TVs versus LCD TVs is actually a misconception. LED TVs are actually LCD TVs. Shocked? Yes, they are LCD TVs powered by LEDs (light emitting diodes). The usual LCD TVs are powered by CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent tubes). LCD TVs work by projecting a backlight, either by CCFL or LED, and then having a front screen deflect that white light to create color. It’s much like white light shown through a prism splitting it into a number of colors. Or if you haven’t seen a prism, imagine white light from the sun passing through our sky and creating a rainbow; that’s how LCD TVs create picture.

What’s the Difference?
Still remember your old Nokia 3310? Those black and white cellphones were powered by LEDs. Notice that the light looks like it’s coming from the side? That’s how some LEDs power your television (called edge-lit) and it allows for a very slim construction, some even less than an inch! Some TVs are also powered by a whole bunch of LEDs dotting the back (called local dimming) and this method allows for individual control of the LEDs to create a picture with very good contrast. As compared to a regular LCD TV, the backlight is powered by several CCFLs, much like a whole bunch of fluorescent bulbs strapped together.

Power Consumption of LED TVs and LCD TVs

This can be quite difficult to compare as manufacturers have made significant improvements over the years to make TVs as energy efficient as possible yet still deliver the same quality. But in general, most local dimming LED TVs use a bit more energy than your usual LCD TV. An edge-lit LED TV on the other hand uses slightly less power.

Differences LED TV between LCD TV: Viewing Angle and Brightness

Viewing Angle
On this factor, the backlight plays no significant advantage. It depends on the glass panel of your TV. The thicker and the higher the quality of the glass panel of your TV, the better the viewing angle. Your kid sitting down on the floor and your friends sitting at the side sofas can still see the action.

Brightness Again with LEDs having superior power as compared to LCDs, brightness is something LED TVs can be proud of. Even in very bright areas such as sunrooms or outdoor areas, the picture on the LED TV should still be very clear as it beats out all ambient light.

Samsung UE60D8000 TV

This Frameless model is a stunner and can prove to be a mouthful to namedrop as the Samsung UE60D8000 is the ultimate upscale TV to have in your living area. It might as well go with a designer couch since it comes with a hefty price tag of 4,200.

The Samsung UE60D8000 is a 60 inch screen behemoth outlined by an ultra sleek silver bezel. It measures 30.45mm deep and weighs 24.8kg and comes with silver-prod foot base. If a glowing Samsung logo doesn't sit well with you, you can always turn it off. Everything you need - Volume levels, power button and channel controls- are on the left hand side.

Color is king with the Samsung UE60D8000. You get your money's worth on dynamic HD picture quality which is no doubt astonishingly sharp. The brightness is fit for a TV of such scale that counters it evenly with a rich layer of contrast points.

However, backlighting is still one of the setbacks common with edge-lit LED screens like this one. Though subtle, you'll still spot some backlight bleeding through the LCD panel particularly if you're watching night sequences or if the screen turns dark for a title sequence.

As for interface, the Samsung UE60D8000 has a great easy-to-navigate screen when connecting to the web, expect to be presented with a buffet of internet apps. The model also comes with 2 pairs of Samsung’s Bluetooth active shutter 3D glasses.

Beyond everything else, the Samsung UE60D8000 is just gorgeous. A ultra fine space saver and an amazing conversation piece that guests will never forget.

Differences LED TV between LCD TV: Color and Contrast

Contrast LCD TVs create the color black by blocking the backlight much like you’d block out the sun with your own hand. The problem is you don’t get an absolute black as some light passes at the sides. Local dimming LED TVs on the other hand turn off the LEDs to areas where it is supposed to be black. It creates a much better contrast on the picture, providing better quality.

Edge-lit LED TVs on the other hand produce a whiter white but still has the same problem as LCD TVs. Color There’s another technological difference with LED TVs. There are local dimming LED TVs with only white backlight and there are also those with colored (RGB) backlights. As for color, go figure. Colored LED backlights are way superior to white backlit LEDs or LCDs.

Samsung's Series 7000 LED TV

Samsung's new line of televisions has been a big hit. With a stunning 1.1-in. ultrathin design and new energy-efficient technology packed inside to save money on your electricity bill, it's easy to see why.

Landing right in the middle of a three-tier lineup, the Series 7000 is notable for more than energy efficiency. The $3,000 TV comes chock full of goodies, including stunning design, interactivity with the Web, a crystal-clear high-definition picture, and an excellent master remote. But the experience is diminished by a lack of image uniformity and a feature setup that's fraught with legal jargon.

First, the advantages: The most notable addition over previous models is LED, or light-emitting diode, backlighting across the lineup. Replacing fluorescent-tube backlighting typically improves image quality and delivers greater power efficiency by adjusting lighting only in areas of the set required to correctly view the picture on the screen.
